What changed
The previous observation confirmed that Morpho's stock-backed lending was live on Base but did not consistently surface market-level terms. A new public report citing a Morpho API snapshot now details five variable-rate markets: AAPLc, GOOGLc and NVDAc were around 90% utilization at 5.06% lender APY and 5.62% borrower APY, while METAc was around 97% utilization at 16.98% lender APY and 17.52% borrower APY. Across the five markets, tokenized-stock collateral totaled $104,401, USDC supplied totaled $60,265 and borrowing totaled $54,652. The fixed-rate side has 19 markets for each of five collateral tokens, 95 in total, but all were reported with zero outstanding units.
Why it matters
Base now has observable stock-specific credit curves in which borrowing demand directly determines USDC lender yield. METAc has moved above the target utilization zone, pushing its variable-rate curve into a steeper section and producing a double-digit yield funded by borrower interest rather than token rewards. The markets remain small, however, and high utilization can materially constrain immediate lender withdrawal liquidity.
Evidence
- The Defiant — A 9:48 a.m. ET Morpho API snapshot was reported with AAPLc, GOOGLc and NVDAc near 90% utilization at 5.06% lender APY and 5.62% borrower APY, and METAc near 97% utilization at 16.98% lender APY and 17.52% borrower APY. Across five markets, collateral was $104,401, USDC supplied was $60,265 and borrowing was $54,652. The fixed-rate layer had 95 markets across five tokens with zero outstanding units.
- Morpho — USDC backed by NVDAc — The live NVDAc-backed USDC variable market showed 5.12% lender APY, 5.69% borrower APY, 90.18% utilization and 62.5% LLTV. The small difference from the reported 5.06%/5.62% snapshot is consistent with a variable-rate market observed at different times.
- Base — Stocks — Base describes Coinbase Tokenized Stocks as B20 assets backed 1:1 by underlying shares and usable across Base DeFi for lending, borrowing and collateral. Availability is limited to eligible jurisdictions outside the United States.
Limitations
The market-level rates in the public report are point-in-time Morpho API observations and can move quickly because the markets use variable interest rates. The directly observed NVDAc page already showed 5.12% lender APY and 5.69% borrower APY, a small timing difference from the reported snapshot. METAc's roughly 17% lender rate is associated with about 97% utilization and can fall sharply if borrowers repay or new liquidity enters. Total supplied liquidity across the five markets was only about $60K, so withdrawal liquidity may be constrained in highly utilized markets. Key risks and limitations include variable rates, liquidity, oracle behavior, LLTV and liquidation mechanics, smart-contract risk, the 24/5 equity-reference versus 24/7 Base timing mismatch, and Coinbase Tokenized Stock issuer, custody, redemption, eligibility and jurisdiction constraints. No new external incentive was identified.
